“The liver is uniquely the only organ that can regenerate, which highlights how important it is for life. I decided to get involved with CLF for this importance, to help bring liver research to life and raise awareness for underrated issues.”

-Kumayal Zafar, Ontario Tech University

“As a member of the Canadian Liver Foundation (CLF) community, I am privileged to contribute to improving liver health in a university setting, where this issue is particularly prevalent. My academic background in biochemistry and research equips me with a scientific perspective, while my age and family experience enable me to approach the matter from both a personal and social standpoint. As co-president, I am excited to be in a position of real influence, where I can lead meaningful and positive change within my community.”

– Kriti Goel, McMaster University

“I decided to get involved with the Canadian Liver Foundation because I want to raise awareness about liver health and support those affected by liver disease. Contributing to this organization allows me to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals and families facing these challenges.”

Muskaan Gill, McMaster University

“I decided to become a part of the CLF because of own personal experience with liver disease and the passion I have for educating others on liver health! What being apart of the CLF community means to me is creating a space for others to learn, explore, and understand liver disease and prevention as well as the impact that liver disease can have on individuals of all ages.”

-Chloe Capan, University of Manitoba

“I decided to get involved with CLF after my experience as a clerk at the COVID-19 vaccine clinics. During that time, I witnessed the positive impact and hope we brought to people receiving their vaccines. It was incredibly rewarding to be part of something that made a difference in people’s lives. Also, a close family member passed away because they did not receive a liver transplant in time, which deeply affected me. This experience highlighted the importance of liver health awareness and support, motivating me to contribute to the CLF’s mission and help others facing similar challenges.

Being a part of the CLF community means being part of a compassionate and dedicated network of individuals who share a common goal of raising awareness and providing support for liver health. It offers a sense of belonging and purpose, knowing that my efforts contribute to improving the lives of those affected by liver disease. The CLF community is not just about advocacy; it’s about building connections, sharing knowledge, and fostering a sense of hope.”

-Lava Mohamad, Simon Fraser University

“The CLF is a community dedicated to advocating, educating, and researching liver disease to fight it. I got involved with the CLF because I feel connected to their mission. As someone who has seen first-hand what liver disease can do to a person’s physical and mental health, I know how important it is to fund liver disease research and support patients. I hope that expanding the CLF’s outreach as well as bringing awareness to and fundraising for the CLF will create real change for those impacted by liver disease.

I decided to get involved with the CLF because their mission resonated with my own. I want to contribute to their cause by expanding their outreach, raising awareness, and fundraising for those impacted by liver disease.”

Akhila Challa, Queens University

“The liver is a vital multi-purpose organ that many individuals often take for granted. As a preventative healthcare advocate, I joined the CLF to help spread awareness about the importance of liver health and encourage community members to take a holistic and multifaceted approach to self-care.”

Elizabeth Zhou, McMaster University
