Currently in Alberta in-person peer support groups are being held in Calgary and Edmonton. These meeting are open to everyone including patients, caregivers, family and friends; anyone in the liver community needing support and friendship. It is a safe place to meet and find others also dealing with the effects of liver disease. We talk about diet, nutrition , exercise, current treatments, sometimes bringing in medical and nutrition experts and try to connect our members with information and services as needed. These meetings are held approximately every 8 weeks. If you would like to join a peer support group in your area, please contact Kari, kfurnell@liver.ca for more information.
Thank you to our wonderful volunteers and everyone who purchased Daisies throughout the month of March! Special shout out to London Drugs who hosted Daisy sales in 6 different Calgary locations throughout the month! We raised over $19,000 all while raising awareness for liver disease and the importance of organ and tissue donation.
See you in 2025!
Every year, hundreds of Canadians rally together and join the Stroll for Liver. We do this to help raise awareness and vital funds to propel life-changing research forward. We do this to help find cures and better treatment options for the people who need help right now. And we do this to make sure that anybody living with a liver disease in Canada can access the support they deserve.
Big thanks to Calgary and Edmonton communities for teaming up to help raise funds in 2024! Together we raised $21,000 for liver research, education and better patient supports!
