This month, we’ve invited four Canadians to the blog to tell their liver disease story and to share what monthly donors mean to them.
Our third community member is Maria – take it away Maria!
I’m Maria, a nurse whose life was forever changed by a liver transplant.
When I was diagnosed with primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC), even my medical background couldn’t shield me from the confusion and uncertainty that followed. My health rapidly declined, and a life-saving liver transplant became my only hope.
This was a terrifying time. I had fears about death and leaving my young son and my family.
Thankfully, a selfless friend offered to be my living donor, and I was given a second chance at life. Now, I am determined to pay it forward.
When you do, you become a hero; providing critical resources, advancing research, and supporting patients like me and our families.
By making a monthly donation to the CLF, you become a lifeline for people like me, who face the challenges of liver disease every day. Your support ensures that the CLF remains a place where all Canadians can turn for support when we need it most. You give us the strength to continue our fight and the hope of a better future.
Please, commit to a monthly donation today and be a champion for those of us who are affected by liver disease. Your generosity can change lives, and your support is urgently needed.
Thank you for your kindness and compassion.
Sincerely,
Maria
